School Design and Technology Audits

Safety management in Design and Technology

All organisations must comply with prescribed  health and safety requirements and apply reasonably practicable risk management to things of potential harm in the workplace. School Design and Technology rooms present  a substantial mix of hazards that have prescribed health and safety requirements, as well as those that require reasonably practicable risk controls as actions aren’t prescribed by regulation.

Our Design and Technology Audits help you determine whether your complying with Regulations, and meeting your Duty of Care responsibilities.

Our Services

Franklyn Work Safety’s Design and Technology audits take into account applicable: health and safety legislative requirements; Australian Standards and Codes of Practice, and elements of the WorkSafe Plan Assessment.

We do audits for wood work, metal work, art rooms and welding. Our standard D& T audits look at practices in the following areas:

  • General Instruction Training Supervision | Hazardous Equipment
  • Safe Work Procedures | Electricity
  • Hazardous Substances | Dust
  • Manual Handling | Slips, trips, falls
  • Lighting | Fire and Emergency
  • Personal Protective Clothing and Equipment | Reporting

The audit generally takes 2 -4 hours onsite per workshop. It involves discussion with teachers who work in the area, workplace observation, and review of relevant documents. Comprehensive reports with findings and recommendations are then provided. You’ll know clearly what’s okay and what needs improving.

All audits are conducted by Accredited Safety Auditors.
